Artist Statement
Hi, my name is Cory I have always been inspired by nature and try to incorporate that into my artwork as much as I can by using natural materials such as bone, wood, and sometimes even rock to make unique one-of-a-kind carvings and sculptures, and displays.

Information About The Art
Art Title: Beauty After Death
Art Description: With this piece, I wanted to take something that most people find repulsing or strange and turn it into something majestic and awe-inspiring. In this case, it was the old bones of various animals, predominantly cows turned into a magnificent dragon for all to see. when you look at this skeleton what do you see? I see its past story. A magnificent metallic colored graceful animal on its final flight through an endless sky. It knows what's coming. As it flies it seeks out a small isolated cave. He enters his newfound cave. The old dragon lies down upon a bed of moss collected on previous trips, he closes his eyes. In the dead of night in deep peaceful slumber, he takes his final breath. In moments the fire within begins to break out in a low burn slowly cremating the animal's body after his sole has passed on leaving nothing but the metallic bones that make up his skeleton. Years later the bones are found, studied, and put on display so that all can admire the shadow of what once was. I hope you enjoyed that. Making a story for your piece can be almost as rewarding as finishing the piece itself. Now if you look at the colors you will find on the skeleton copper, silver, and the slightest bit of gold the color and names of three of earth's elements which in this piece represent earth in some of its purest forms. going down to the pedestal you'll find its blue which represents the water and atmosphere two of Earth's features essential to the survival of life on this planet. So the skeleton along with the different colors on the piece represents the natural cycle of life and death on this planet as well as the earth itself and how all these different yet connected aspects continue to make the world go round. Even in death, something can be beautiful.
